Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishops Conference delegate, military bishop Vukšić, celebrated mass on the occasion of the World Communications Day on 27 September 2015 in Sarajevo. Bishop, the President of the Council for the Media of the Bosnian Bishops Conference, spoke about communication and family during his homily. The title of his sermon was Family as Privileged Place of Encounter with the Gift of Love which is also the title of Pope’s message for Communications Day.
The Bishop said that the “family is the first place where man learns how to communicate and where the man ‘communicates’ himself out of the love to his close ones. It is a place where one learns coexistence in diversity of people, gender, generations, interests and plans“. He pointed out that, in a Christian family, prayer is the main form of communication. The modern media, which are now part of everyday life, can be helpful in creating healthy relationships in the family, but can also be an obstacle in normal communication. Bishop Vukšić carried on saying that man and wife were created equal, in God’s image, and that the man and the woman are made to grow “in every sense, in mutual respect and love, and out of that connection, as the fruit of their love, new image and likeness of God is formed – new men and women“. “This specific mission of men and women as parents” said the Bishop “is a unique privilege and an honor, because no one is so similar to God the Creator as one who participates in the creation of man.”
